What are things to consider when setting up shipping on Shopify?

As you set up your Shopify integration with Swag.com, there are two different ways you can set up shipping costs for your storefront customers, depending on which Shopify plan you have:

  • You can choose to set your own shipping rates, OR

  • You can choose “Swag Fulfillment” and pass through the shipping costs directly from Swag.com to your customer through Shopify’s third party shipping feature

As a reminder, you will need at least a Basic plan on Shopify to integrate with the Swag.com app.

What are the requirements to activate the “Swag Fulfillment” option?

To use the “Swag Fulfillment” option, you will need to have one of the following plans with Shopify: the Shopify Advanced plan, or the Shopify Plus plan. You may need to reach out to Shopify to confirm you have third party shipping activated for your account as part of the setup. The Shopify Starter, Basic and ‘Shopify’ plans do not have the ability to access the “Swag Fulfillment” option.

How does the Shipping Setup work?

To set up your own shipping rates, you will need to do the following

  • As the store owner, you will need to set the rates to be charged to your Shopify customers in the settings for your storefront

If you choose your own shipping rates, then when an order is placed on your store for a Swag.com product, Swag.com will charge you for the shipment, and you will be responsible for any difference in shipping costs charged to you by Swag.com vs. what you charged your customer.

To set up Swag Fulfillment using Shopify’s third party shipping feature, you will need to do the following:

  • Select ‘use carrier or app to calculate rates’ and then select ‘Swag Fulfillment’ when options are presented

If you use “Swag Fulfillment”, the shipping costs you are charged by Swag.com will be passed through directly to the customer when the order is placed.
